Eradicating irresponsible consumption is one of the greatest challenges of the Anthropocene. Under a linear economy, the projected increase in world population (UN, 2019) and the never-ending growing demand for more manufactured products vaticinates grim scenarios for the correct functioning of ecosystem services (IPCC, 2018). Between 1997 and 2011 alone, the global value of such services decreased in USD 20 trillion/year due to land use change (Constanza et al., 2014). Errors in the socio-ecological spatial scale of ecosystem service analysis further this concern (Raudsepp-Hearne and Peterson, 2016). We all want this to change, and yet every attempt seems to be pushing the planet towards terra incognita (Merz et al., 2015). In this context, we propose to train new replication agents in universities and schools in order to reduce the psychological distance to this challenge and maximize knowledge transfer about the Circular Economy. We will work with students from UTEC and UPC.
