Parqueate
Parqueate is a mobile app that helps people find parking spots in their cities.
The main focus is colaboration between users of the app since they can add new parkings that they have found and by doing so they help the entire community to better use the current parking infrastructure in a city.
This also helps to reduce the carbon footprint of a city since we reduce the time drivers spend circling around blocks looking for parking hence reducing CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.
Users can also rate the service they receive on each parking facility so that other users can take a more informed decision on using one parking spot or another and giving parking owners feedback to improve their service levels.

- Cómo se diferencia tu producto o servicio de lo existente en el mercado?
- The current apps to find parking spots are offered by private parking operators and only have their parking facilities, so if a user wants to find parking will need to have 2 or 3 different apps installed and switch over one or the other to find the spot they need. Other apps offer a listing of parking facilities of multiple operators but does not let users to contribute by adding new parkings, making comments or rating the service. We offer all of that!, an always increasing list of parking facilities and spots, collaboration and feedback features that makes our solution better everytime people use it.
- Describe el impacto social que genera tu solución
- Parking spots are a very escarse resource and on street parking is strongly regulated. But we focus on off street parking, and with this we open the opportunity to people that have a space available and that can be used as a parking spot, they can list their space in our app for free and they decide if they want to share it for free or for a small fee. These people usually live with a minimum wage and does not have a car since they use public transport and the spaces they have in their houses or work places is unused and can be shared with people who needs it. This leads to a business model that will help them generate additional income to pay for things like bills and education, giving them the opportunity to have better living conditions.

- Our business model consist of three main areas, listed in the order of implementation and importance: 1. Marketplace: people who list their parking spaces and want to charge a fee for them, will pay a 10% commission to us for each transaction made. 2. Mobile payments: With parking facilities we are implementing a payment solution that let users pay for parking without going to a cashier or payment toll, they use our mobile app to pay and the entrance and exit gates are automatically opened. 3. Microinsurance: With our mobile app, vehicle owners can buy insurance policies that will cover any damage their vehicles may have while parking at any parking facility/spot that uses our systems.

- This project has a global impact, the problem of finding parking spots is faced by drivers all over the world both in developed countries as in third world countries, this has been validated by an IBM study made in 2011 which also shows that about the 30% of a city traffic is due to drivers triying to find parking. We habe built our technology having a global expansion goal in mind and duplicating our product in a different city can take no more than a few weeks.
